Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra is a public university consisting of six faculties: Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources, Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development, Horticulture and Landscape Engineering Faculty, and Faculty of Engineering.
The main department participating in the proposal is the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Management. Department of Economics focuses in its research and teaching on international economics, agricultural economics, agricultural policy analysis, and production economics. Department of Economics takes part in many international scientific projects focusing on trade, policy analysis, land markets development, political economy etc.
Department of Economics participated in 5FP Agmemod and 6FP Agmemod 2020 that econometrically modelled the impact of agricultural policies on production, trade, and consumption of major agricultural commodities in both old and new member states of the EU. Within 6FP Tradeag Department of Economics at SAU analyzed the impact of integration on agricultural trade in central and eastern European countries. Currently Department of Economics at SAU is involved in 7FP Agfoodtrade and 7FP NTB Impact. Other projects in which Department of Economics at SAU participated include projects sponsored by World Bank, FAO, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic.
